In 2023, our St Stephen’s School theme is, “Made in the Image of God”. This theme is based on the first book of the Bible, entitled “Genesis”, where God makes human beings in his own image and likeness. As soon as humans were made, God exclaimed that they were “good”. We are, as human beings, inherently good. As the psalmist proclaims in Psalm 139, we are “wonderfully made”.
And with this wonderful goodness we are given the choice to be ‘Like’ God or to turn away from God. The question is, how do we be like God? The first thing we can do is “praise” him. In praising God, we are clothing ourselves in gratitude and humility. We praise Him for making us so wonderfully. The second thing we can do is love one another, just as He loves each of us.
Each of us are God’s beloved children, wonderfully made in His image. We have dignity and worth beyond measure! How can you show someone this week that they are made in the image of God?
